50 horror movies in 2011! Here are some of the best ones:
A Serbian Film (Serbia, 2010)
You think Martyrs was fucked up? I’m telling you, Martyrs is a fucking romantic comedy compared to A Serbian Film. Let me put it in perspective: someone was literally skullfucked and that is the least notable thing that happens in this movie. Without a doubt, this is the most horrifying thing I’ve seen in 2011 ever.
I told Lauren about it and she insisted on watching it on the eve of her 25th birthday. I made her cupcakes that night so I think she hated me a little less.
Drive Angry (US, 2011)
Nicolas Cage escapes from hell to seek out the leader of a Satanic cult (Billy Burke) responsible for his daughter’s death and stop him from sacrificing his granddaughter. He meets Amber Heard along the way and together, they go after the nut jobs. Meanwhile, a strange man who calls himself the “Accountant” (William Fichtner) is hot on their trail.
Long story short, it’s kinda like Ghost Rider but with cars and does not suck. Nic Cage, you are back in my good graces.
Ichi the Killer (Japan, 2001)
I’ve seen bits of Ichi the Killer but 2011 was the first time that I really sat down and watched it. It’s not a good idea to eat and watch this movie at the same time.
Red White & Blue (US, 2010)
Red White & Blue follows the story of Erica (Amanda Fuller), a woman who can’t seem to keep her legs together and would screw just about any man she meets. She develops a relationship with Nate (Noah Taylor), the quiet man who lives in the same boarding house and the only one who wants something more than sex. This is a slow-burn thriller but the last ten minutes are fucking brutal as hell. Seriously, I had to pause it several times to catch my breath.
Sheitan (France, 2006)
A family of French hillbillies, if there is such a thing, is on a mission to bring forth the Antichrist. Hands down, the most bizarre Vincent Cassel movie I’ve ever seen.
Tucker & Dale VS Evil (US, 2010)
Read about it here!
Visitor Q (Japan, 2001)
I don’t even know how to begin describing Visitor Q. It’s directed by Takashi Miike and I guess that is all you need to know.
Other awesome horror movies that I’m too lazy to write about:
Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (Finland, 2010)
Sint (Netherlands, 2010)
The Loved Ones (Australia, 2010)
I Spit on Your Grave (2010 remake of the 1978 rape-revenge flick Day of the Woman)
Mother’s Day (2010 remake of the 1980 Troma film)
Maybe I’ll aim for 100 this year.

You had me at “French hillbillies”.
